Disclaimer: Product purchased with my own money. All opinions are my own.

Hi TRC Gang! About a month or so ago, I was asked the following questions about a beauty brand called LipSense. You know like…
Have you heard of LipSense? Have you tried LipSense? What do you think about LipSense?

I love it when you all have product questions. I enjoy sharing my point of view about beauty products, especially ones that my audience/tribe has a curiosity about. I have seen this product all over social media and it claims to be kiss proof, water proof, and last for a ridiculously long time. So, I set out to get my hands on this lippie. You can purchase this item from someone who is a distributor of the products. First off, this product is very expensive in my opinion. I purchased the $55 starter kit and chose the brown nude shade Cappuccino. So, does it really work? Does it dry out your lips? Would I buy it again? Keep reading!

The starter kit comes with your choice of lip color, gloss and remover. Once you have those, you can purchase additional lip colors and the different glosses. There are 70 lip shades in a variety of finishes as well as 10 different glosses that range from matte, glossy, iridescent, to glitter! I was super excited about glitter gloss. Y’all know I love some glitter!

The Application

When applying LipSense, there is a magic number and it is “3”. I found that applying 3 thin layers, making sure to let each one dry in between gives you the perfect pigmentation on your lips. For the first application, there may be a slight tingle. The product contains a cosmetic grade alcohol which can sting some and give a cooling feeling as it evaporates. However, I noticed that the sensation was less noticeable on the second day.

Once your 3 coats are dry, you simply apply your gloss of choice. This step is what makes your lips feel moisturized and gives them that oh so lush juicy look. You will not experience a dry, matte feel when using the gloss with the lip color. The first time I applied the gloss to my lips, I was floored that none of brownish tan color came off on the lip gloss applicator. Amazing!

The Verdict

  • Overall, the lip color formula is good. It can be thin and streaky if you don’t apply 3 coats. Please note, many have said that the opacity can vary with the colors as well.
  •  The burning sensation could be uncomfortable for some people. The gloss is a must for this product. Without the it, the lip color feels dry.
  • The wear of this product is very impressive. I was truly outdone! It really lasted through frappes, a burger, sipping water in meetings, rubbing, and drinks with friends. No transfer at all!
  • The scent of the lip color was ok. The glosses are unscented and the remover smells so pleasant, like vanilla. I love the scent of vanilla!
  • I would not wear LipSense everyday because I do enjoy reapplying my lip color!
  • The initial investment of $55 is very expensive for my taste, but once you have gloss, you can purchase additional colors for $25. This is still steep, but since you will only have to apply once a day, it maybe economical for some.
  • Even though I like this product, I do not see myself buying it again. I can get a regular lippie and be happy.

Do I recommend LipSense?

Yes I do. This product definitely works.  I have tried some long lasting lip products in my day, but none as long lasting like this one. You just have to keep reapplying the gloss to keep it feeling moisturized. I really like that it’s vegan, lead-free and cruelty free which are huge pluses in my book. So, if you don’t mind spending the money, I say grab it!

Disclaimer: These products were sent to me for consideration for review. As always, I only share my honest thoughts on products. If a product doesn’t work well for me, I simply will not review it.

Hi TRC Gang, I want to talk with you about a new cosmetic line that has exclusively hit the shelves of Ulta. It’s called Models Own, a brand originating from the U.K. that is cruelty-free. This collection is fresh, fun, and most of all affordable. I’m a stickler for affordability with makeup brands because in my opinion some of them can just be very over priced.

Models Own offers many different formulas with it’s cosmetics and they have a good range of colors too. They don’t believe in one look, one way! I was sent three of their products to try and give my honest feelings about them. I was sent the Sculpt and Glow Highlighter Powder (Golden Sand) and two Matte Liquid Lipsticks (Candy Cane and Coral Fresh).

Sculpt and Glow Highlighting Powder ($11.99)

The Sculpt and Glow Highlighter in the shade Golden Sand is beautiful. It gives you the perfect amount of glow.  I really love that it is highly pigmented. I like to add the highlight to my cheekbones, nose, and chin with a fan brush. The glow last all day!

Matte Liquid Lipstick ($7.99)

I love these matte lippies. The formula for theme is super creamy. They go on very smooth and they don’t feel sticky at all. Plus, they dry quickly and last for a good while on your lips. I adore the smell of them too. The peppermint scent is very pleasant.

Models Own cosmetics is a fabulous brand that delivers on high quality with an affordable price to match. I suggest you get BOLD and give them a try for yourself. Don’t be shy, add some of their products to your stash. You can purchase Models Own at Ulta stores or Ulta.com. Also, be on the look out for a video with me incorporating these products into a makeup look. If you’re not subbed to my YouTube channel, head over and subscribe.

Spring finally feels like it’s here in Indianapolis, Indiana and I’m too excited. I’m ready to pull out my maxi dresses and play in pastel makeup colors. So spring time right! Recently, I was sent the Hard Candy Matte Eyeshadow And Metal Eyes palettes from their Look Pro Line. I am a long time fan of Hard Candy Cosmetics, so I was thrilled about working with them. Plus, the palettes are super gorgeous!

The Palettes

Look Pro Matte Eyeshadow Palette ($10)

This palette is so versatile and has a very unique color scheme. The palette contains 15 matte eyeshadow shades and two double sided eyeshadow brushes to give you a total of four. I must say, this palette is bad at all. I dig matte palettes and nothing is better than finding a palette as verse as this one. It has a row of light matte shades, some nice warm shades, cool shades and even some popping deep shades. How’s that for choices, huh?

For the formula, it’s ok. It’s definitely not too bad for a drugstore brand. The formula is smooth and creamy. The shadows blend very nicely. However, when you use a brush they aren’t as pigmented. You have to pack it on. The only thing I don’t like is that these are a bit powdery and you will have some fallout. Overall this is a good palette for the price.

Look Pro! Metal Eyes Palette ($8)

This dry-to-wet eyeshadow quad is brilliant. Hard Candy really out did themselves with this kit. It has everything you need for a sultry metallic look all in one place. The kit includes four shimmering shadows, a nice dual-ended shadow brush, one black eyeliner pencil, mixing pan, and an eyeshadow mixing liquid. The liquid is magnificent, it helps turn dull, dry shades into something you might see in Vogue Magazine. The entire kit is about the cost of a latte at you favorite coffee house.

These palettes very affordable and are a must have for your makeup collection. You can purchase them at the Hard Candy website or exclusively at Walmart stores.

Hi TRC Gang! I am preparing for my travel season and I know many of you all are too. I just love traveling! It allows me to visit new places or revisit those areas that I enjoyed. While traveling, I really like to keep as organized as I possibly can. I take a lot with me guys, so organization is an absolute must for me. Can’t lose items during travel!

One of my hardest items to keep organized during travel is my makeup. I have so much of it (Yes, I’ll admit it, I am a makeup junkie)! I absolutely hate getting home and finding out I have lost one of my favorite cosmetic items. This started my hunt for the perfect set of affordable makeup organizers. I was happy when an opportunity came to work with a company called Tartan and Twine. This company has excellent travel organizers. They come in so many colors and designs. I was sent their Hanging Valet and Small Organizer in animal print (you all know how I feel about animal print…LOVE) with aqua trim to try out.

The Hanging Valet Organizer

This Valet ($25.00) is perfect for keeping your makeup in place and off your countertops while still allowing products to be within reach. It can be hung from a door hook to easily see your lipsticks, liners, powders and more. This bag folds closed and snaps shut keeping your makeup organzed while traveling.

Features:

  • Two flat, clear PVC zippered pockets
  • One deep, clear PVC zippered picket
  • Three flat, mesh pockets
  • Hanging hook
  • Magnetic snap closure
  • Gold tone hardware
  • Made of polyester nylon
  • Fully lined in polyester nylon
  • Dimensions: 11″ x 2″ x 6.75″

The Small Organizer

This small organizer (12.00) is so cute. It is super roomy and you can fit a lot into this bag. Don’t let its compact size fool you. This bag is Wonder for those that don’t want to lug around a gigantic size bag.

Features:

  • Single zipper
  • Interior slip pocket
  • Gold toned hardware
  • Made of polyestr nylon
  • Fully lined in polyester nylon
  • Dimensions: 5.5″ x 2.75″ x 4″

So far, I’m so in love with these makeup bags. They are of very good quality and the gold toned hardware offers a classy touch. As I put some wear and tear on these items, I will update you all on my thoughts. If you are in the market for some stylish affordable makeup travel bags, I do suggest giving Tartan + Twine a try. Their bags are simply beautiful. You can find these and others at Tartan + Twine or at Ulta.

Now days, you can find great drug store makeup products on the market. One of my favorite brands is Rimmel London. I just adore their lippies and face primer. Now I have a new favorite, their new Magnif’Eyes Eyeshadow Palettes ($7.99).  The palettes come in three color combinations with a mixture of twelve matte and shimmer colors in each. The good folks over at Rimmel London sent me two out of the three palettes which are Keep Calm & Wear Gold and London Nudes Calling to review for you. Let’s get into these palettes!

The Keep Calm & Wear Gold eyeshadow palette has a light-to-dark, warm-to-cool setup. There are four satin-matte shades and eight shimmer shades. I’m a shimmer girl, so you know I was all the way here for this palette. The palette has a very nice variety of colors and finishes which I love. It has a great balance of matte-to-shimmer, so you have wonderful transition colors making it super versatile for day to night wear.

The eye colors have a smooth texture and are pretty pigmented. The formulation was consistent for the palette and was beautifully workable( easy to apply, blend, and build). I did not get any patchiness as the eyeshadows went on very smoothly. When I used the shadow with primer, the colors lasted throughout day with little to no creasing.

As for the London Nudes Calling palette, it has a nice nude tone. But there is only one matte color out of the twelve shades in this palette. Just like the previous palette, these eyeshadows are very easy to work with and give a smooth even color wear. I just really wished there were more matte shades. However, I feel the hues are so gorgeous!

The Verdict

My overall thoughts on these eyeshadow palettes is that they are of great quality for a budget friendly price tag! I enjoyed working with colors from both palettes, but I know you all want to know which one was my absolute favorite. I would definitely have to go with the Keep Calm & Wear Gold eyeshadow palette. It contains a nice mix of cool and warm shade ranges with a brilliant shimmer that I just can’t deny. Whether you choose to go with my recommendation or your own, these palettes are sure to have your eyes looks poppin for Spring and summer.

You can purchase these palettes at your favorite local drugstore.
