Beautiful and healthy skin and hair – this is the ultimate goal for many of us. Many people around the world invest in so much money to keep their skin as radiantly as possible while maintaining each strand of hair in our heads. This thought might be a far-fetched objective, but it’s not an impossible feat.

Give importance to utilizing natural ingredients as opposed to using commercial products when such as high end hair dressing flat irons it comes to keeping our beautiful locks and radiant skin. Creams and lotions found on store shelves may contain harsh toxins and chemicals that might do more harm than good in the long run.

Shifting to organic methods to obtain healthy skin and hair should be at the top of your priority list. Not only is it a safer method as opposed to using store-bought products, but you’ll also stay within the lines of your spending allowance as well.

Read on to the rest of this post as I’ve shared five organic foods for healthy skin and hair.

  1. Olive Oil

Many of us would simply ignore olive oil as a way to make our skin and hair healthier than the norm. Some of us might even use it as simply as an ingredient when cooking up something in the kitchen. However, you can also use it on the hair and skin.

When using olive oil on the hair, warm it up first before massaging it into your scalp for a few minutes. Allow it to absorb into your hair and scalp for approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Shampoo your hair as you normally do afterward. This organic food helps your hair stay strong, healthy and beautiful.

When used on the skin, warm the olive oil first and massage it onto your skin. Wait for about 30 minutes before showering. Use this natural skin care solution daily to enjoy flawlessly smooth skin.

  1. Avocado

Just by eating avocado on a regular basis will help protect the skin. The fruit assists in bolstering the cells’ power to eliminate free radicals and the damage it causes to the body. To enjoy this advantage, rub the pulp of a ripe avocado on your skin for 30 minutes right before taking a shower.

You can also take advantage of utilizing an avocado’s beneficial properties for the hair. Create a hair mask by mashing one ripe avocado with a tablespoon of olive oil and yogurt. Apply it on your wet hair and put on a shower cap. Let the mixture stay on your hair and scalp for 1 hour before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

  1. Honey

Another organic food that can aid you in achieving your hair and skin care goals is honey. It is a natural ingredient composed of mainly glucose and fructose, but it also has other essential substances such as amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, proteins, and minerals.

Honey can help put a stop to hair loss. For this purpose, start by preparing two tablespoons of honey and onion juice. Massage the mixture into your scalp and the roots of your hair. Allow the hair care solution to sit there for roughly 30 minutes before shampooing it off.

When mixed with fresh lemon juice, raw honey can also work wonders for the skin. Apply this mixture on your neck and face areas, and all it to dry on its own before washing it off with lukewarm water. Use this skin care solution once or twice a week to have a better chance of reaping its benefits.

  1. Coconut Oil

Many hair and skin care product manufacturers include coconut oil as the main ingredient in creams and lotions. The oil’s moisturizing properties help bring about soft and smooth skin. It can also aid in protecting the skin against sun damage. Coconut oil is also rich in fatty acid that helps in reducing inflammation while revitalizing the skin.

When massaged into the hair and scalp, warm coconut oil can help prevent hair damage during the grooming process. You can also apply it on your hair and scalp right before going to bed, but make sure to warm the oil first before the application. Shampoo your hair as you’d normally the next day.

  1. Lemons

If you hear someone talking about hair and skin care, they’d usually mention lemons as part of the context. It is because lemons are nutritional powerhouses that can do wonders for your skin and hair.

Lemons contain an abundance of vitamins, especially vitamin C, and this is an antioxidant that helps combat against free-radicals. Unable to properly fight against free radicals can lead to wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging to show up earlier than expected.

As for the hair, drinking a glass of lemon water at the start of the day can help make your hair beautiful from within. It can aid in the prevention of dandruff, flakiness, and scalp itchiness.

Conclusion

To create better skin and hair, you don’t need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to get great results. Organic foods can be your best friend to help defeat the causes of hair and skin damage. Follow these tips regularly, and you’ll enjoy better looking and feeling skin with flawless hair with the right level of dedication.

We as women do a lot to our hair. If it’s not coloring, heat styling, or just applying different styling products, there is something that we do to the strands on our head. While our hair my look good, there is with out a doubt some build up from these processes that we put our hair through. Build up on the hair leaves it dull and lifeless. Not so beautiful right.

Beautiful Nutrition’s Lemon Rinse does the trick in rejuvenating your hair and putting luster back into it. I like to co-wash my hair most of the time. Then follow it up with my preferred styling products. Over time, build up can occur on the scalp and hair. This is where the lemon rinse comes in. I know you’re asking,  what is it really? It is a gentle ph-restoring clarifying scalp and hair rinse that seals your cuticles and adds shine. Is my pH out of whack, you ask? Well, do you go in chlorine for fitness or recreation or do you have hard water at your house?  Are you a person that layers many products on your hair? These things can all contribute to unbalanced pH.

I added this rinse to my weekly wash day routine and I was good to go! It’s very easy to use the rinse. When you have completed your shampooing and conditioning process, you just put a quarter-sized amount of this rinse on your hair starting at the roots and work through to your ends. You can add more if you need it. Work it around, leave on for 15-30 seconds, and rinse out. Then style your hair as you normally do. When used the rinse for the first time, I noticed my scalp and hair stayed cleaner longer and just felt less weighed down. I highly recommend this for anyone who co-washes or feels like their scalp and hair gets build up on it. It is recommended to use the rinse 1-2 times a week for best results.

Hello honey buns! I’m so excited to tell you about an event that I went to yesterday called the Make up, Skin care, Hair care – The Event. This wonderful event was hosted by Naturalistas in Nap (Indianapolis), a meet-up group for women with natural hair in which I am a member of. This beautiful group is made up of women who embrace natural hair as a lifestyle that seek to learn and share their journey with growing healthy natural hair. Their meet-ups are intended to share what everyone is learning about such as natural hair regimens, maintenance, products, styles, and anything else hair related.

The meet-up yesterday afternoon was very informative. The guest speaker was Angela Knari who is a 20+ year veteran beauty expert. Angela has worked for brands like Bobbi Brown Kiehl’s, and MAC. Her work has graced the pages of magazines, television, and on the catwalks of New York. Angela is also a Certified Skincare Specialist who is extremely knowledgeable in care for all skin types.
The event had the flow of a workshop which allowed for on the spot demonstrations of different makeup applications that participants had questions about. You all know that I love make up, so I had many questions. One of them being how I could make my eyes look and feel more open through my glasses? Angela had me to come up and she showed me how to make my tight almond shaped eyes pop.
Some other question that came up during the event were how to prime your face for make up, how to cover dark under eye spots, and how to fill in the perfect eyebrows. The ladies had so many great questions flowing and Angela took us to school on each one of them.

Alikay Naturals was the event sponsor and gave away some awesome full size product and samples of their Lemongrass Leave-in conditioner. I have always wanted to try their conditioner. I was so happy to get that and I was in pure bliss when I won one of the giveaways. I snagged the Moisture Rich Hair Parfait, another product that I had been wanting to try.

Overall, I had an amazing time at the meet-up. It was so good to be able to fellowship with all of the ladies. I found that for the most part I have been taking pretty good care of my skin and hair. I also walked away with a wealth of knowledge on how to apply my makeup to add to my application bank.

If you are a natural in Indianapolis or surrounding areas and would like to join the Naturalistas in Nap meet-up group, find them here.
