Hi TRC Gang! I am preparing for my travel season and I know many of you all are too. I just love traveling! It allows me to visit new places or revisit those areas that I enjoyed. While traveling, I really like to keep as organized as I possibly can. I take a lot with me guys, so organization is an absolute must for me. Can’t lose items during travel!

One of my hardest items to keep organized during travel is my makeup. I have so much of it (Yes, I’ll admit it, I am a makeup junkie)! I absolutely hate getting home and finding out I have lost one of my favorite cosmetic items. This started my hunt for the perfect set of affordable makeup organizers. I was happy when an opportunity came to work with a company called Tartan and Twine. This company has excellent travel organizers. They come in so many colors and designs. I was sent their Hanging Valet and Small Organizer in animal print (you all know how I feel about animal print…LOVE) with aqua trim to try out.

The Hanging Valet Organizer

This Valet ($25.00) is perfect for keeping your makeup in place and off your countertops while still allowing products to be within reach. It can be hung from a door hook to easily see your lipsticks, liners, powders and more. This bag folds closed and snaps shut keeping your makeup organzed while traveling.

Features:

  • Two flat, clear PVC zippered pockets
  • One deep, clear PVC zippered picket
  • Three flat, mesh pockets
  • Hanging hook
  • Magnetic snap closure
  • Gold tone hardware
  • Made of polyester nylon
  • Fully lined in polyester nylon
  • Dimensions: 11″ x 2″ x 6.75″

The Small Organizer

This small organizer (12.00) is so cute. It is super roomy and you can fit a lot into this bag. Don’t let its compact size fool you. This bag is Wonder for those that don’t want to lug around a gigantic size bag.

Features:

  • Single zipper
  • Interior slip pocket
  • Gold toned hardware
  • Made of polyestr nylon
  • Fully lined in polyester nylon
  • Dimensions: 5.5″ x 2.75″ x 4″

So far, I’m so in love with these makeup bags. They are of very good quality and the gold toned hardware offers a classy touch. As I put some wear and tear on these items, I will update you all on my thoughts. If you are in the market for some stylish affordable makeup travel bags, I do suggest giving Tartan + Twine a try. Their bags are simply beautiful. You can find these and others at Tartan + Twine or at Ulta.

The weather has finally gotten warm and you’re ready to move about. That new resort in the Bahamas has your name all over it. You go on the hunt for you favorite leather travel bag. Once you retrieve it, you see that it doesn’t look how you once remembered. It’s a bit tattered, in need of some TLC.

Caring for your leather handbags, footwear and jackets properly can sometimes be a tricky task. It can require a great amount of patience. No worries! I’m here to help you with keeping your leather goods looking and feeling like new.

Leather Maintenance Basics

Love on your leather and it will last a lifetime. Give it a quick wipe down with a soft, dry cloth once a week.

Limit your leather goods exposure to direct sunlight.

Every so often, rotate your leather, this is so that one product doesn’t age more rapidly than the others.

To help prevent wrinkling or flaking, be sure use a good leather conditioner. Just take some on a soft cloth and gently rub all over. You want to repeat this step every month.

Removing Stains on Leather

It’s recommended for oil stains, to put cornstarch on it as soon as possible, rub it in, and immediately brush off the remaining powder with with a clean cloth. Afterwards, you can apply some mink oil to the rest of the area. This will often cover up the oil stain and blend in with a natural look.

Spilled water on your leather, no worries! Simply let water spills dry on their own. Do not try to blow dry them!

For food stains, crush a small amount of white chalk and let it sit on the stain overnight. In the morning, brush it off with a clean cloth.

To remove fresh ink or dirt stains, use a white eraser on the affected area, lightly. If it’s an older stain that has set in, please seek the help of a professional.

Leather Storing

Store your leather in dust bags or a cotton pillowcase. For handbags cross the handles over each other and leave them in an upright position.

To keep the shape of the leather, be sure to fill it with clothing items, butter paper or acid-free. Do avoid newspaper, it can smear and stain.  Be sure to air it out once every two weeks.

Worried about odor while storing? To prevent or get rid of unwanted odors, fill a plastic bag with baking soda, zip the leather bag closed, and store for a few days. Dryer sheets can also save the day also.

Thank for checking out this post and I hope it helps you with caring for your leather goods.
